Afrocentric regenerative travel is a type of travel that centers around marginalized cultures and policy changes through tourism, traditions, and histories. It is a way of traveling that is rooted in the principles of sustainability, social justice, and cultural exchange. In this context, the term "regenerative" refers to the idea that travel can positively impact both the traveler and the local communities being visited.

Our CEO

Meet the CEO CEO CEO

My name is Kea Wakesho Simmons; I am from Charleston, South Carolina; raised on James Island, where the Gullah Geechee culture originates. During my formative years, I decided to leave high school in the tenth grade and join Job Corps in Kentucky, where I eventually obtained my GED. Following my time in the Job Corps, I returned to Virginia, which has become my second home. In Virginia, I gained confidence and grew into a more mature individual, especially after becoming a mother for the first time in 2006. To further my personal growth, I enlisted in the United States Army as a human resources specialist and served for five years, including deployments to Iraq and Korea. During my time in Korea, my passion for travel was ignited, fueling my desire to explore the world.

  • Do I need travel insurance?

Traverze Culture requires that you protect your travel investment with travel insurance. Travel protection is short-term insurance intended to cover “unexpected” travel-related expenses and emergencies, such as cancellations, medical fees, evacuations, losses, or delays. We have made arrangements with a world-class travel insurance company called World Nomads.

Coverage begins after the travel insurance provider pays the travel insurance premium. You can find out more and even get a quote on our Travel Insurance page. You can receive up to $3000 in lost or stolen baggage coverage, $100,000 in medical coverage, and more.

Whether you purchase travel insurance through our recommendation or on your own, we require all our travelers to obtain travel insurance.

  • Do I need shots?

You will receive a list of recommended immunizations and vaccinations from your doctor, depending on the country we are going to. But, in many African nations we visit, yellow fever immunization is the most common need. The locations listed below offer the yellow fever vaccine. You can obtain this from your primary care physician or by choosing one of the options listed below.

    >>>Passport Health - http://www.passporthealthusa.com/vaccinations/yellow-fever
    >>>Yellow Fever Travel Clinic - https://www.globaltraveler.com/yellow-fever-vaccinations/

  • Do I need a visa?

Not every country we visit requires a visa, but for those that do, you will need the following:
    • A valid passport for a least 6 months
    • Yellow fever vaccination (if the country requires it)
    • Kenya, Tanzania, Belize, or Panama doesn’t require vaccination
    • Flight/trip itinerary
